HistoryOur company today is the culmination of several generations of providing quality Oilheat and professional service to New Jersey's Sussex and Morris Counties. It all began more than 100 years ago in 1895, when Cyrus Byram Dixon built Boonton's first icehouse.  It was a successful business that thrived until World War I, when Cyrus's three sons went off to war. With his sons gone, Cyrus Dixon eventually closed the business down. It wasn't until many years later, long after Cyrus's sons returned from the war, in 1919, that they put their heads together and renewed the business. This time around, a new service was offered and a new name created: Dixon Bros. Wood & Ice. To keep up with the changing times, the brothers eventually shifted the emphasis of the business to coal in 1920 and then again to heating oil in 1926. Innovation notwithstanding, block ice was an important part of the business until 1945!  Today, Dixon Energy still provides Morris and Sussex counties with the warmth and comfort of modern Oilheat and Propane Services.
